Mount Carmel, Mount Arbel, Armaggedon Valley

On top of Mount Arbel. Close toe the Valley of the Doves leading down to and overlooking the Sea of Galilee. There were tons of zealot caves dug into white faced cliffs. It was really amazing. Lesson learned here: "Build God's Kingdom & Not My Own!" Eg: Simon Peter. Peter was saved by his faith and decided to follow Jesus. BUT then the next day he was right back in the fishing boat going about his life as usual. He was supposed to start fishing for men, but went back to his routine. He wasn't catching anything. Then Jesus caught up with him, told him to try the other side of the boat and they pull in a TON of fish. SO much they almost sank! That event really changed Simon Peter and he understood his mission was no longer among the waves, but among men. A hard thing to accept! How was he going to provide for his family and himself. He had to quit he day job, you know! Same with us and myself. It's much easier for me to simply work day to day as a designer in my office. It is easy, fun, and doesn't require the faith needed to "lay down our own nets and walk with Jesus.

Mt. Carmel. A pretty intense place. Where Elijah burnt his sacrifice and the killed all the Baal servants and prophets and then demanded that Isreal follow God as the one true God and live with out doubt, or waviering.

Note from Paul's life - he was a peppery debater and not such a great listener. In contrast to his approach to spreading the gospel, we are called to be the salt and light of the world. Not the pepper burns the skin and pushes people away!
Maybe that is why I put salt on everything!!! (Just kidding=)

Cesceraea Maritima and The Sea of Galilee

We drove from Tele-Aviv up to Ceserea Maritima. This was an aquaduct from Mount Carmel (where Abraham almost sacrificed Issac) that Herod built to bring water down to Ceserea. 2000 years old!

Outside of our kabutz - our hotel on the side of the the Sea of Galilee. This was my favorite spot of the whole trip. Every morning at the kabutz we got up early and ran up and down along the shore and watched the sunrise over the mountains. It was so peaceful and calm. Perfectly serene. No wonder God calls this His chosen land. I miss the kabutz. Even though is was a bit rustic it's character and peacefulness was unbeatable.

Gatlinburg in the Fall : My Favorite Time of Year!

My favorite things about fall: Gatlinburg, TN, leaves changing color, caramel apples, brisk cool air, cozy sweaters, making pumpkin bread with my Dad, shopping for Christmas... and playing games with my hubby like a 6 yr old instead of a 26 yr old! Did I mention that I won???

We had an excellent trip to the mountains, 16 of us in one cabin with 2 babies, a toddler, a 7 year old and half a dozen adults who still act like kids. It was great family time and a chance to rest and relax like we all needed!!!

A glimps of our cabin...you know its not just a shack in the woods when it has a dozen bright green emergency exit signs...

Oh! The joys of the nasty smelling Fanny Farkle!

After many days of stressful marathon shopping (in hopes of boosting the large economic downturn,) the girls sat on the porch and contemplated the serious problems of the world...and how our recent purchases could benefit mankind... :)

Nathan and I celebrated our birthdays with ice cream cake in the cabin after an excellent dinner in downtown Gatlinburg at the Peddler.
Talk about an excellent steak!

Gates Cambridge Alumni Dinner

Last weekend, Nathan and his friend Andy planned and coordinated the Annual Gates Cambridge Alumni Dinner. All the scholars in the U.S. that could make it out, gathered at the San Francisco Yacht Club. It was gorgeous. I was lucky enough to get to do all the decor and print media, which was super fun. Bill & Melinda Gates weren't able to make it (they were invited thought!), but everyone else was very fun and engaging.

This is how I designed the tables and programs. I made the centerpieces out of succulents and blue satin fabric.

The food was really good to as you can see! It was a totally huge success and very great experience all together!

Napa and the Vineyards of St. Supery

Aaron and Shauna came to visit us from NC. (nathan's bro & his wife) We had a great time with them in Napa and went to St. Supery's Vineyard and winery.

We were lucky enough to actually see them harvesting the grapes and beginning the wine making process. We even got to go out into the fields and pick grapes off of the rows. Really makes the whole verse about the vine and branches really become clear.

This summer we also went and saw our other pro athlete friend play tennis: Patrick Briaud. It was an extremely fun tournament in Sacramento where Pat's team actually beat John McEnroe and his team! It was great fun and we were super proud of Pat and his New York Buzz team. (note the pretty white hats!)

Hamilton Machine...& Baseball

Quite Frequently this summer we have gone to watch Josh Hamilton play baseball. He is an outfielder for the Texas Rangers. Nathan played ball with him as a kid. Josh is quite a guy with quite a story. A testament of faith to say the least and a genuine guy. We enjoyed watching him play and chatting afterwards every time the A's faced the Rangers. Sad to say we only got to see Joseph Blanton once with the A's before he got traded.

March Fun!

Nathan and I have a good friend named Paulie who is giving us boxing lessons in Oakland! It is really fun, but geeze I was sore! We met Paulie through our Tuesday night Timothy Disciple Group. We meet for dinner and then the guys study Ephesians (they are translating from the original Greek text!) while the girls pray and have fellowship. It is an awesome group....our family out here! We have been really supported and blessed by the group, and we are all learning to knit!!!

We went to a convention in San Francisco and then out to dinner at a quaint little French resturant nestled in an alleyway. We walked quite a while to find it but it was worth the wait and messy-directions!

Last week we had friends from Oklahoma come visit while they were in town for a convention in San Francisco, Cat and Roderick Greene. Cat is from Germany and runs for the German Paralymipcs Team and Roderick runs for the US Team. They are super fun and in excellent shape! They were the figure-heads for the company that sponsors them and makes their legs. They are both missing there right shin and foot. Cat even has a leg so she can wear high heels! We went out several nights in a row to spend time with them, and it was great. We even went dancing! You would never know they had prosthetic legs!

We went to Girahidelli Park and got giant ice creams down by Fishermans Warf.

Christmas

Before birth! We had an excellent time over Christmas in KY. We got the pleasure of seeing Abby and Leigha born! It was so nice to be home and hang with my family!

Mom & Dad's visit

We have had a crazy busy last couple of weeks with mom and dad's visit. It was an awesome break and we enjoyed everybit.
Going back a few weeks, here we were in North Carolina for Nathan's brother's wedding, Silas. It was a beautiful day and on the waterfront.

The picture is from our birthdays. One of our house mates birthday was also oct 8th, so we all three had a get together to celebrate all three.

We were lucky enough for Mom and Dad to be able to stay with us for a whole week. We went everywhere! It was such a great time together. Here we went down to Monterey Beach in south bay and stayed overnight in this cute bed and breakfast hotel in downtown.

While we were in Monterey we drove the 17 mile drive down to Pebble Beach Golf Links and to Carmel. It was amazing! I am definately playing that course before I die. But for now I just bought a sweatshirt! :)

While we were in Monterey we rented this cool car-bike! We decided to do a little test spin to see how hard it would be. We could barely move it!-Until Nathan realized we still had the break on! We "biked" down Monterey and I had a blast dinging the little bell when people wouldn't get out of the way. If you ever get a chance to rent one of these, do it! It even had buckled seats in the front for kids!

This was on top of one of the highest residential hills in San Francisco. It was a georgeous view and felt so far away from the bustle of the city.

After we went to SF for the afternoon we went down to Sausilito, across the Golden Gate bride. It is a cute little harbor town with great little cafe's and shops.

After Sausilito, we went to Napa Valley. We visited a couple different places. This is a pic of the gardens at the Domaine Carneros vineyard. It was very pretty!

September Travels...

Go NC State! They are trying to make me a loyal fan still!
So we have been really busy since my last post! Last last weekend we traveled to North Carolina for Aaron and Shauna's wedding. (Nathan's younger brother by a year.) We had an excellent trip but were exhausted afterwards. I did updo's for all the girls in the wedding party and did shauna's hair too. They all came out really well despite the fact that I started on Karen's (the grooms mother) 5 minutes before Shauna was supposed to walk down the aisle! Needless to say the wedding party looked great but we were 15 min late! For the rehearsal dinner we had a cookout and went to an NCState football game.

Last weekend, my sorority sister Rosie Kapp came in for a long weekend (not long enough though!) We had a blast and traveled all over Berkeley and San Francisco for three days straight! (Nathan had to stay home and study though.) We were really excited because we saw all the major tourist attractions possible in two days and then spent the last shopping--and we only "almost" got lost once! We were really proud of our map reading skills! I must admit though that we did as a usps man delivering mail just to make sure we were going the right direction--he giggled so that he almost lost half of his ice cream sandwich out the side of his mouth! We had and excellent time. I highly recommend riding the SF Trolleys. They are quite fun! This weekend we are at home and then next off to NC again for another brothers wedding!

Here is a picture of my new haircut, yay, and a picture of the front of our house. We are in the yellow house and its nickname is "The Fulton Manor." Nathan and my room is the front room to the right of the steps. If you look really hard you can see our white wicker table and chairs where we eat breakfast on lazy mornings so the sun shines on us. Its great! You can also see our three antique rose bushes which weren't blooming yet in this pic. I have some others of the house I can post later, but I've miss placed the folder! Yikes!

We had a big BBQ in the back yesterday for lunch and then went to San Francisco for the evening for an event for Nathan's college, Emmanual College, Cambridge that he attended in England. It was really nice to get out of Berkeley and have a night in the city...It always feels like a mini vacay!

Married and loving it!

Finally back to normal life now, so I promise not to be so slow in posting!
How did it get to be september????

Nathan and I went to the California Swimmeet to see
his friends compete in the rain. They have an
awesome outdoor facility with a heated pool-but the rain was cold!

For Valentines
Nathan and I went do a really nice dinner downtown in Berkeley. The week before, one of Nathan's friends from Knottingham, England came and stayed a few days and brought him the white "wedding tie." It was sweet.

The Ferry Building in San Francisco is where Nathan works on Mondays and Fridays.

Life is spinning by...literally! Nathan and I started dance practice taught by the Cal competive dance team tonight! It is a semester long prep class for next fall's dance team. So if we do good we could compete next year. Bonus for the meantime: learn some smooth moves for the wedding. :) Tonight we learned the basics of the waltz and the Rumba. NICE! Makes me wanna watch Dirty Dancing!

Back track a bit...2 photos from Nate in the Domican Republic over Christmas, and then one from our late "Swanky Holiday Party 2007" - bringing Christmas back into Winter Break. Except everyone was so busy before Christmas that we had to wait til after. It was still a blast and total success despite the dry and droopy tree. :) We made some awesome appetizers and snacks too! (Nathan and I cooked for like 5 hours! He is quite handy in the kitchen!)

We are working on save the date letters so check your mail at the end of the week. Other good news: the basement flood is well on its way to recovery (sigh of relief) and Nathan and I went to our 2nd premarital class last Thursday.
